PORTFOLIO
A sheltered one acre country garden by the sea. Originally with a tennis court at the bottom of the garden it offered lots of space for dramatic planting, creating lovely vistas from many angles.
Architectural planting was used as a backdrop for a blaze of striking perennials. Deep borders allowed me to create all year round interest texture and movement.
Now my clients like to spend as much time as they possibly can in the garden.
TWICKENHAM
Careful selection of materials and plants complement existing architecture. Colour, texture, form and scent are given equal importance to enhance the spirit of the garden.
KENT
OXSHOTT
My client moved into a new house with just a patio and a large lawn.
She wanted a romantic garden with somewhere to sit with a glass of wine and contemplate.
A much loved wrought iron bicycle was worked into the composition and the design flowed from there.
A cottage garden with an abundance of flowers and colour.
KINGSTON UPON THAMES
My client had a small, seriously overgrown garden, with broken fences, crazy paving and an old shed.
The aim was to make the garden feel bigger, and indulge her passion for plants.
I replaced the fencing with rendered walls and inlaid mirrors to open up the space and reflect light.
Raising the levels in the garden added interest. Storage space was created under the seats.
A perfect place to entertain.
My clients had a long very narrow, dull space. They were desperate to introduce colour and interest into the garden and give the perception of width.
The design divided garden into 3 separate ‘rooms’.
The first had different levels of raised borders. A raised planter was built across the garden to create a room and give the illusion of width.

PUTNEY
This large town garden was very dark ,dank and gloomy and barely used.
My clients requested a traditional English country garden, a water feature and to turn the ugly shed into a “Gothic Gingerbread House”.
Unsightly old trees were removed bringing instant light. New fencing, raised beds and terrace were built at rear of the garden.
Planting consisted of a plum tree, lilac and hydrangeas. Swathes of perennials and shrubs, roses and lavender with a soft palette of purples, pinks, whites and blues created a beautiful and peaceful effect. The scent from the roses in summer is heavenly.
The shed was transformed with a stained glass window and porcelain tiles inside. It is now used as a cocktail bar.
EALING
The existing garden was very long and lifeless.
The clients requested straight lines and hot colours.
I designed a garden that was divided into 3 different areas (rooms) with paths framing each, leading you from one lawn to the other.
Camomile was planted between the paving to soften the hard landscaping and releasing a fragrant scent when walked on.
The borders were planted with hot colours of oranges, blues, purples and reds with a beautiful specimen red Acer planted toward the house for maximum impact.
PUTNEY
This garden was really non-discript and needed an injection of excitement.
My clients brief “A gravel garden with a curved path please”
I replaced the old decking with a wider sandstone terrace for entertaining.
The curved path was laid and tons of gravel was brought in. We filled the garden with drought resistant mediterranean plants and grasses which brought life, colour and movement into the garden.
We converted a wonderful old urn into a lovely burbling water feature which Bertie the dog loves!
RICHMOND UPON THAMES
A front garden that was in need of attention.
I designed the front to be low maintenance high impact .
Paving stones were removed and lots of top soil and feed incorporated into the bed.
I planted mature standard bay trees with box balls planted irregularly around their base. Bulbs were planted on mass of white tulips followed by purple Allium .
The result was a stylish front garden which gave the house privacy without taking away the natural light.
The clients asked me to create and implement a garden with planting that would compliment their new home. The house is modern so this was reflected with contemporary planting.
I used shade loving tree ferns with box balls, alongside Hostas grasses and fern for textured planting on the shady side of the garden.
Waves of colour run through the garden each season. Purple alliums in May, pale blue irises in June blending in to dark blue agapanthus and pink astrantias throughout the summer.
A grand garden to complement a grand house.
The second room had ground level borders with a built-in bench, and under-planted with shade loving plants.
A contemporary pergola was placed at the boundary of the second and third rooms. The pergola was planted with roses and clematis, and included an engraved rustic swing for children and adults.
The third room was a child’s play area, with artificial grass to enable slides, sandpits and contain any mess.
